Accordingtoareport,aschoolgirldescribedas

According to a report, a schoolgirl described as "fit, healthy and popular" killed herself because she felt fat and ugly.

Imogen D'Arcy, described as a "perfectionist" who was normal weight for her age and height, had an image of Emma Rigby, who played Hannah Ashworth in the television soap Hollyoaks, as her role model.

Imogen's mother Susan D'Arcy said; "Young girls should not be subjected to images of celebrity women who are so thin. It's unrealistic for girls to have these women as role models."

Her father Paul, 51, found her hanging from the bathroom door by the flex of his laptop in the bathroom of the family's home in Adel, Leeds.

After he freed her and attempted resuscitation, Mr D'Arcy noticed a note in her handwriting

which had been left on the toilet seat.

He said, "I took it to the bedroom and read the first paragraph but I couldn't read any more. It appeared Imogen had a problem with her body image. She felt fat and ugly. This is not true because she doesn't have an ounce of fat on her."

【回答】

This passage tells us a piece of news which said that a teenage girl killed herself because she thought she was fat and ugly. But in fact, she wasn’t fat at all.

Teenagers struggle with their body image because it’s a time when the body goes through many changes. Also, early teens are a time when teenagers become more aware of media images — as well as how other peers look and how they fit in. They might start to compare themselves with other people or media images.

However, it’s not always easy to like every part of our looks, but when we get stuck on the negative comments it can really harm our social, physical, and emotional growth.

Humans, by definition, are imperfect. It’s the imperfections that make each of us unique and original. Appreciate that each person is more than just how he or she looks on any given day.
