What can't be overlooked is that a mother's greatest gift is the smallest details of her child's life freely shared. Can you imagine that?
In the midst of my housework in the 41 , I was surprised to find the front door was open. Julie, our oldest child, came in. She’d been married for three months. I was still trying to 42 her living elsewhere. Much to my 43 , sometimes I even 44 set her place at the table. Julie handed me a small bunch of daffodils (水仙花) and said, "Guess what!" as she opened the refrigerator to see what was inside. As I put the flowers in water, I answered 45 , "What?"
She began telling me some small 46 of her new life as she made 47 a sandwich. We sat at the kitchen table, and I watched her eat, hanging on her every 48 . It was a 49 visit in fact 50 Julie had to go to work. I thanked her for the flowers and for 51 ; then I walked to the door with her and 52 as she drove out of the driveway.
When coming back to the kitchen, I sat and looked at the daffodils. My daughter’s visit set me thinking a lot. It was as bright and 53 as the early spring daffodils. Suddenly, I picked up the phone and 54 my mother’s number. She lived a hundred miles away. When she 55 , I said, "Guess what!"
"What?" she answered 56 . Like Julie I didn’t have any big 57 , just little details of the day. But I’d like to come to 58 in the last hour how 59 a small talk could be. Just before I hung up , my mother said, "You 60 my day."
